Job Description

Role Description The Owner role is a part-time, remote position responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, planning, and growth of MO:DE festival. Day-to-day tasks include defining the vision and annual goals, guiding programming decisions, and coordinating with partners, sponsors, and collaborating studios. The Owner leads key operational and financial decisions, supports marketing and communications efforts, and ensures that the festival remains inclusive, accessible, and aligned with its core values. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with speakers, educators, and creative communities, as well as evaluating festival impact and identifying opportunities for future development. Qualifications - Experience in leadership, entrepreneurship, or ownership of creative, cultural, or events-based initiatives, with a strong strategic and organizational skill set. - Background in motion design, animation, creative technology, or related fields, with the ability to engage credibly with studios, educators, and emerging talent. - Skills in project and event management, including planning timelines, coordinating stakeholders, and overseeing budgets and resources. - Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities to collaborate with partners, sponsors, speakers, and diverse community groups. - Commitment to diversity, accessibility, and inclusive practices, with experience fostering equitable spaces in creative or educational environments. - Comfort working remotely, using digital collaboration tools, and managing teams or contributors across different locations and time zones. - Experience in marketing, branding, or audience development for festivals, events, or creative initiatives is highly beneficial. - Familiarity with higher education or creative industry networks, particularly within motion design and animation, is an advantage.
