Job Description

Role Overview: We are seeking a senior legal and compliance professional to join a world-class technology platform, focusing on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and healthcare innovation. This pivotal role involves steering the compliance strategy for cutting-edge digital products across the APAC region, acting as the bridge between aggressive business growth and evolving regulatory expectations. Key Responsibilities: - Integrated Business Partnership: Provide end-to-end legal coverage for AI-powered SaaS platforms, diagnostic tools, and data-centric health solutions. This includes architecting compliance frameworks for new business models, drafting intricate partnership agreements, and providing risk-adjusted counsel during commercial negotiations. - Proactive Regulatory Horizon-Scanning: Establish a robust monitoring system to track legislative shifts and enforcement actions in Hong Kong and Singapore concerning AI-driven medical devices, intelligent remote care, patient-generated health data, and LLM-based clinical support. Translate complex regulations into digestible, actionable internal policies and training. - Holistic Compliance Infrastructure: Spearhead the design, rollout, and continuous refinement of cross-jurisdictional compliance programs covering cross-border health data transfers, algorithmic accountability (fairness/transparency), and SaMD (Software as a Medical Device) certification processes, ensuring local implementations align with global corporate standards. - Strategic Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary executive interface with key regulators including the Hong Kong Department of Health, Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA), and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC). Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, inspections, and consultations to foster a cooperative relationship. - Cross-Border Legal Project Management: Direct and coordinate a network of external counsel across different jurisdictions. Align legal strategies between Group Headquarters and overseas business units, ensuring coherent execution of global initiatives at the regional level. Candidate Profile: - Experience: A minimum of 10 years of post-qualification legal experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to the healthcare, life sciences, or highly regulated AI/technology sectors. Candidates with a mixed background in both technology and medical industries are highly desirable. - Qualification: Must hold an active and valid legal practicing certificate in either Hong Kong or Singapore. - Localized Expertise: Possesses a profound, hands-on understanding of the regulatory frameworks in Hong Kong and/or Singapore related to medical products, health data privacy, and emerging technologies, with proven experience in product compliance implementation. - Linguistic Proficiency: Fully proficient in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English as working languages, capable of high-stakes legal drafting and executive-level negotiation. Proficiency in Cantonese is a significant advantage. - Technical Acumen: Does not require coding skills, but must have a solid conceptual grasp of AI, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models—including their capabilities, limitations, and risk vectors—to facilitate effective dialogue with engineering and product teams regarding compliance-by-design.
