Electrical Primary Design Engineer – HV/EHV Substation

Hiring: Electrical Primary Design Engineer – HV/EHV Substation 📍 Location: Dubai, UAE 🏢 POWERCHINA – Dubai Design Hub 📌 Vacancies: 2 We are looking for experienced Electrical Primary Design Engineers to join our Dubai Design Hub, supporting HV/EHV substation engineering and EPC projects across the Middle East & Africa. Key Responsibilities - Perform primary and detailed electrical design for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations. - Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), substation layouts, sections, busbar arrangements, cable routing/trenches, earthing and lightning protection drawings. - Perform engineering calculations including earthing/grounding and lightning protection calculations. - Carry out technical selection and engineering of major HV equipment, including: - Power Transformers - Circuit Breakers - Disconnectors / Earth Switches - CTs / VTs - Surge Arresters - MV/LV Switchgear - Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, BOQ/MTO and other engineering documentation. - Review design institute and vendor drawings/documents and ensure compliance with project requirements. - Participate in technical bid evaluation (TBE) and technical clarification with suppliers/vendors. - Coordinate design interfaces with Protection & Control, SCADA/Telecommunication and Civil/Structural disciplines. - Provide engineering support during FAT, construction, testing, energization and commissioning. - Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC/IEEE standards, utility requirements and project specifications. Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering or related discipline. - Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in HV/EHV substation primary design. - Strong hands-on design background is essential. - Experience with 132kV / 220kV / 230kV and above substations is highly preferred. - Strong experience in AIS/GIS substation layouts, earthing, lightning protection and HV equipment engineering/selection. - Experience in EPC engineering/design environments. - Proficiency in AutoCAD. - Experience with ETAP or equivalent electrical engineering software. - Good knowledge of IEC / IEEE standards. - Good working English.Highly Preferred Candidates with UAE/GCC transmission and substation EPC experience will be given priority. Experience working on projects for utilities such as TAQA / TRANSCO, DEWA, EtihadWE, SEWA or other GCC utilities is a strong advantage. ⚠️ Important: This is a DESIGN position.
