Job Description

Role Description The Head of Department is a part-time, hybrid role based in Abu Dhabi, with flexibility for some work from home. This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the department, aligning activities with the Association’s mission of inclusive postsecondary education. Day-to-day tasks include planning and overseeing departmental programs and initiatives, coordinating with members and stakeholders, supervising staff or volunteers, and monitoring progress against goals. The Head of Department will manage budgets and resources, contribute to policy and advocacy efforts, and ensure effective communication across teams and partner organizations. The role also involves preparing reports, representing the Association at meetings and events, and supporting the rollout and growth of IPSE Association membership. Qualifications - Leadership and management skills, including experience overseeing teams, programs, or departments in education, non-profit, or related sectors. - Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities, develop work plans, and manage multiple projects. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and public speaking. - Knowledge of inclusive education practices, disability rights, and postsecondary education systems; experience working with or advocating for people with intellectual disability is highly beneficial. - Proficiency in basic digital tools and office software; comfort with remote collaboration platforms and online meeting tools. - Relevant academic background in education, social sciences, disability studies, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage. - Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment, with cultural sensitivity and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
