Job Description

Role Description The Executive Director is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, governance, and operational performance of The Islamic Insurance Co. This role includes leading strategic planning, setting organizational priorities, and ensuring alignment with Islamic Takaful principles and regulatory requirements. The Executive Director will supervise senior management, review financial and operational reports, evaluate risk, and provide guidance on business development and regional partnerships. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with the board of directors, preparing and presenting performance updates, maintaining stakeholder and partner relationships, and promoting a culture of ethical conduct and continuous improvement. The role also involves identifying growth opportunities in local and regional markets and representing the company in key external forums and industry events. Qualifications - Demonstrated leadership and executive management skills, including strategic planning, decision-making, and team guidance. - Strong governance, risk management, and compliance capabilities, ideally within insurance, financial services, or related sectors. - Experience in Islamic finance or Takaful insurance, with a solid understanding of cooperative insurance principles and Sharia-compliant practices. - Advanced communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills to work effectively with boards, regulators, partners, and staff. - Proven ability to analyze financial statements, budgets, and performance metrics and to drive operational efficiency and sustainable growth. - Relevant academic background such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, law, or a related field; professional certifications in insurance or governance are an asset. - Experience in regional or international markets within the Arab world is highly beneficial, with the ability to operate in a multicultural environment. - Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity, demonstrating integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to non-discriminatory and inclusive practices.
