Job Description
Finance Manager (ACCA, CMA or equivalent is a MUST) Umm al-Quwain, United Arab Emirates Paints manufacturer The role Our client manufactures paints and coatings from its own plant in the northern Emirates and is part of a regional industrial group. We are recruiting a Finance Manager to own the finances of the UAE entity, reporting to the Group CFO. This is the finance seat for the business, not a role inside a large function. You run the close. You file the VAT and the Corporate Tax yourself rather than handing it to a consultant. You own the cash position. Each month you sit with the General Manager and the CFO and explain what moved and why, in language a non-accountant can act on. You will review the trial balance and you will also build the schedule behind it. What you will own - Month-end close to the group calendar, with a balance sheet supported account by account - Entity statutory accounts under IFRS, the audit file, and the auditor relationship - UAE VAT and UAE Corporate Tax, from preparation through to filing - Intercompany with sister companies in the group, both legs, every month - Daily cash and a 13-week rolling forecast that people actually make decisions from - Banking relationships, facilities, FX exposure, and payment approval within your delegated authority - Budget and reforecasts, with variances explained by drivers rather than adjectives - Standard costing, production and purchase price variances, inventory valuation and provisioning, and contribution by product, customer and production line - Ageing, DSO and the collections cycle, including the credit hold and release calls - Master data and chart of accounts discipline in the group ERP - Leading and developing the entity finance team Your first year The close, the compliance and the cash start on day one. Alongside that, the role carries an improvement mandate you will be measured on: getting the balance sheet clean and keeping it clean, putting a repeatable cycle count and variance reporting rhythm behind the inventory position, building real cost and margin transparency for the plant so pricing and capacity decisions are made on numbers, and tightening commercial control around samples, free stock and credit. What we need - Around eight years or more in finance, with at least three owning the full close of a manufacturing legal entity - IFRS in practice, including preparing statutory accounts and running an external audit at entity level - Hands-on UAE VAT and UAE Corporate Tax filing. You have done it, not supervised someone who did - Manufacturing cost accounting: standard costing, bills of material, production and purchase price variances, inventory valuation, provisioning for slow-moving and out-of-spec stock - Entity treasury: daily cash, short-term forecasting, bank relationships, facilities, FX - Credit and collections discipline, and the judgement to stop a shipment when the numbers say so - Depth in a tier one or tier two ERP. The client runs a mid-market system, so either direct experience of one or a serious appetite to master it - Advanced Excel, experience leading a small team, and eligibility to work in the UAE Helpful, not essential - Qualified accountant: ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA or equivalent - Coatings, paints, resins, chemicals or comparable process manufacturing - Intercompany and transfer pricing inside a GCC group - External audit background at Big 4 or an established mid-tier firm - Having worked through an ERP implementation or a process standardisation programme rather than only a steady state.
