Job Description

About Aleta Planet Aleta Planet is a Singapore-based payment services provider and Banking-as-a-Service platform, licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Major Payment Institution and a Principal Member of VISA. We build cross-border payment infrastructure, multi-currency business accounts supporting up to 14 currencies, card issuance, and API integrations that partner businesses build on top of. Founded in Singapore in 2014, we've grown into a group with entities across Hong Kong, Dubai, Malaysia, and Canada. About the Role This is an apprenticeship to the Head of Finance. You'll work directly alongside him across everything he does — the close, the reporting, the reconciliations, the banking, the regulatory filings, the cash flow, the group entities. Not one slice of finance for two years. All of it, from the seat next to the person accountable for it. Here's the honest version of the deal. Part of this job is being an assistant. You'll manage his calendar, track what he owes people and what people owe him, remind him about things before they become urgent, and chase the work that's stalled. That's real work and we're not going to dress it up. What you get for it is proximity — you'll sit in the meetings, see the decisions, and understand why things are done the way they are, which is the part of finance that takes most people five years to pick up because nobody lets them near it. Where it leads. This role exists to build someone into a finance manager. As you show you can handle things, you take them over — first a schedule, then a reconciliation, then a report, then a process that's yours. The administrative share shrinks as the finance share grows, and how fast that happens depends entirely on you. If being an assistant for a period feels beneath you, this isn't the right role and we'd rather you knew now. If you understand what a couple of years of that access is worth, it's one of the best entry points into finance we can offer. We'll teach you the finance. We can't teach you to be the kind of person things don't get dropped by. What You'll Do Learn the function, and take pieces of it over - Work alongside the Head of Finance across month-end close, management reporting, reconciliation, banking and treasury, regulatory filings, group consolidation and audit - Sit in on meetings with the team, auditors, banks and Group, and understand what's actually being decided - Prepare schedules, analysis and working files under supervision, and have your work properly reviewed - Take ownership of specific recurring tasks and reports as you prove you can run them unsupervised - Improve what you're given — if you're doing something manually every week, work out how to stop Support the Head of Finance directly - Pull together the data, schedules and analysis he needs, to the deadline he needs them - Draft reports, summaries and correspondence for his review - Prepare materials for meetings with Group, the founder, banks, auditors and regulators - Follow up on his behalf across the finance team and the wider business, and make sure things actually land - Handle confidential financial and business information with complete discretion Keep him organised and ahead of things - Manage his calendar and schedule appointments, meetings and calls across time zones - Track his open items and deadlines, and remind him before they're urgent rather than after - Maintain a live view of pending tasks and stalled workflows across the function, and flag what's slipping - Take notes and action points in meetings, then chase those actions to closure - Handle correspondence, filing, expense claims, travel and general administrative support What We're Looking For - Diploma or Degree in any discipline — Accountancy, Finance, Business or Economics is an advantage but genuinely not required - 0 – 3 years' experience. Fresh graduates are welcome, and so is anyone with relevant experience from elsewhere - Exceptionally organised. You keep track of many small commitments without dropping any, and you have an actual system for it rather than a good memory - Reliable. When you say something is done, it is done. When it isn't, you say so early - Comfortable in Excel — sorting, filtering, formulas — and willing to get much better at it - Clear written English; you can summarise something in a way that doesn't need a followup question - Discretion and sound judgement with confidential financial information - Willing and genuinely happy to do assistant work as part of learning the trade - A real interest in a long-term career in finance, and the ambition to move into a management role What You'll Learn - The whole finance function of a licensed payments group, from the seat next to the person who runs it - How money actually moves in cross-border payments — settlement, safeguarding of customer funds, FX, and what goes wrong - Month-end close, management reporting, reconciliation, treasury and regulatory reporting - How banks, auditors and regulators are actually dealt with, which isn't something you can read about What Matters to Us - Nothing gets dropped — this role exists partly to catch what would otherwise slip, so it can't be the source of slippage - Initiative — you spot what's needed before being asked, and you don't wait to be told twice - Discretion — you'll see things most people at your level don't, and it stops with you - Humility with ambition — you're prepared to do the unglamorous work, and you fully intend to outgrow it What You'll Get - Direct, daily access to the Head of Finance and to how the whole function is run - Exposure across every part of finance rather than one narrow process - A deliberate development path toward a finance management role, with responsibility handed over as you earn it - Exposure to a licensed, MAS-regulated payments business operating across five jurisdictions
