Construction Safety Manager

About the JobRole Description A Construction Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing health, safety, and environmental practices across construction projects and ensuring that safe working conditions are maintained throughout project operations. The role involves developing and implementing safety programs, conducting site inspections and risk assessments, monitoring compliance with safety procedures, investigating incidents, and providing guidance to construction teams and management. The position is suitable for candidates with experience in construction safety, occupational health and safety, engineering, site supervision, or related fields. Previous experience managing safety programs on construction sites is an advantage.Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs for construction projects. - Establish site-specific safety procedures, policies, and standards. - Conduct regular construction site inspections to identify unsafe conditions and potential hazards. - Perform job hazard analyses and risk assessments for construction activities. - Monitor compliance with approved safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements. - Advise project managers, site supervisors, engineers, contractors, and workers on health and safety requirements. - Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors. - Ensure workers receive appropriate safety training and understand site safety requirements. - Monitor the correct use of personal protective equipment and safety equipment. - Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences. - Prepare incident investigation reports and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions. - Monitor implementation and closure of corrective actions. - Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training, observations, and compliance activities. - Coordinate emergency preparedness and response procedures for construction sites. - Conduct emergency drills and ensure workers understand emergency response procedures. - Monitor fire prevention, emergency access, evacuation routes, and site emergency equipment. - Ensure construction activities comply with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements. - Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project safety standards. - Review contractor safety plans, risk assessments, method statements, and related documentation. - Participate in project planning meetings and provide safety recommendations before high-risk activities begin. - Monitor high-risk activities such as lifting operations, excavation, scaffolding, working at height, hot work, and confined-space activities. - Ensure appropriate permit-to-work procedures are implemented where required. - Monitor site housekeeping, access routes, storage areas, and general workplace conditions. - Coordinate with project management and engineering teams regarding safety-related construction changes. - Identify recurring safety issues and develop improvement initiatives. - Conduct safety performance audits and prepare management reports. - Track safety performance indicators and provide recommendations for improving project safety. - Support environmental protection initiatives and appropriate waste-management practices on construction sites. - Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization. - Maintain professional communication with employees, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities. - Stay informed about changes in construction safety practices, standards, and applicable UAE requirements. - Perform other health, safety, and environmental duties as assigned.Requirements - Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred. - Previous experience in construction safety, occupational health and safety, or a related construction environment. - Previous experience managing safety activities on construction sites is preferred. - Strong knowledge of construction hazards, risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management systems. - Understanding of working-at-height, excavation, lifting operations, scaffolding, electrical safety, hot work, and confined-space safety. - Strong knowledge of personal protective equipment and workplace safety procedures. - Ability to conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments. - Strong incident investigation and reporting skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong leadership and team-management capabilities. - Ability to communicate safety requirements effectively to workers, supervisors, contractors, and management. - Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. - Ability to work in a demanding construction environment and manage multiple safety priorities. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety. - Good documentation and reporting skills. - Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams. - Knowledge of relevant UAE occupational health and safety requirements is an advantage. - NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or other recognized health and safety certification is an advantage. - Relevant UAE professional certification or approval may be required depending on the project and employer.What We Offer -
