Software Architect

One of the business initiatives undergoing in MTR Lab is the access control business under Urban Access Solutions Company Limited (UAS). UAS runs three major streams of businesses, namely carpark systems, access control solutions, and electric vehicle charging business. Responsibilities Architecture & Development - Define and own software architecture and technical direction for applications and platforms; - Translate business and product requirements into scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions; - Design system architecture, APIs, databases, integrations, and cloud infrastructure; - Evaluate architectural trade-offs and select appropriate technologies and design patterns; - Remain hands-on in developing critical components and reviewing technical implementations. Cloud & Infrastructure - Design and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures on Azure and/or AWS; - Design cloud-native and distributed systems using appropriate services for compute, networking, databases, storage, messaging, and caching; - Establish practices for Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and observability; - Consider performance, reliability, security, disaster recovery, and cloud cost optimization in architectural decisions. Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management - Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams; - Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, product teams, and technical teams to understand requirements and propose appropriate technical solutions; - Communicate complex technical concepts, architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences; - Conduct architecture and code reviews and establish development and architectural best practices; - Mentor developers and evaluate emerging technologies for potential adoption. Problem Solving & Improvement - Diagnose complex technical and production issues and drive root-cause resolution; - Continuously improve system architecture, performance, scalability, security, and maintainability; - Document key architectural decisions, system designs, and technical standards; - Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned. Qualifications - Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; - 5+ years of software development experience, with significant experience in software architecture and system design; - Proven experience designing and implementing production-grade software systems; - Strong technical leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; - Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders is preferred. Technical Skills - Strong proficiency in C#, .NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React; - Experience with ASP.NET Core, Node.js, or similar backend technologies; - Strong understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, design patterns, and database architecture; - Solid experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, or similar databases; - Hands-on experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud architecture; - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD; - Knowledge of cloud security, networking, monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery; - Knowledge of hardware, IoT, or system integration is a plus.
